Mine’s a tie between the Mazdaspeed6

Kinja'd!!!

And the Kia Optima.

I don’t really know why I like the Optima’s fob so much, I just like it. Switchblade fobs represent.

I forgot all about that Mazda one! I would say i8 but you said key fob, not smart phone.

Those credit card style Mazda keys are such shit though. People would put them in their pockets, sit down, and *snap*. No more circuit board.

Or the “emergency” key would start falling out at random, because the little plastic tab that held it in would wear out.

And they’re expensive as HECK. Heck, I say.

Oh, and changing the battery is a PITA. Especially on an old one who’d rubber access panel has become stiff and brittle.

Cayenne (left). It’s shaped like a Cayenne and that’s cool. My Jetta key is on the right just for comparison.

But of course, I have to point out that it’s pretty similar to every other VAG key.

Hyunda/Kia do have some nice fobs. They have real aluminum (or at least good enough to fool me), and some nice weight to them. Good quality feel. Nothing too fancy, just a good design.

I agree, could be considered a cool key fob but was a monumental pain in my ass. God I am glad I no longer own a CX-7.

I very much love GM’s new key fobs

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

They feel amazing in your hand and the look and feel is very “premium”.

Very much unlike my GTO’s key fob

Apparently I’m a moron, it is the Speed6 key.

The RX-8 had a different key. Woops.

That’s what does it for me, they don’t look very fancy, but they are very nice to hold and very solid feeling. Basically the complete opposite of the Mazda key.

I think Renault was one of the first ones with those kind of keys:

I’m glad all my Mazdas are/were Sport models.

Though the remote start fob for the CX-5 is a big bitch.... luckily it stays with the wife and her purse is big enough to hold it.

CX-7 was a fine vehicle, besides it destroying front tires, and sounding like a diesel because of the timing chain stretch after it hit 125,000 miles. I lost 3 grand by trading it in but it was worth it since my wife has a new Forester that I now won’t strand here on the side of the road.

We lost the ‘’key’’ part on the Mazda RX-8, so now there is a square hole in the lower right part of the fob.

It tickles my OCD so bad.

As for my favourite, I’ll go with the obvious.
It’s huge, impractical and there are no buttons on it.

but it’s SOOOO COOL!

Got rid of mine before the powertrain warranty ran out. They’re nice, but had a lot of teething issues.

Correct. I have this key for my ‘08 Miata, and bought a new wallet for my front pocket to avoid this. You can't even easily just remove the key from the card and put it on a normal key chain.
